And the Techs still have not signed (2)

October 19, 2007

Well, much has happened since my last post -- but one thing that has stayed the same is that the Tech union still has not signed the agreement that was "agreed to" back in mid-September.  It appeasr that the Techs and the University have agreed to final text and the agreement has been sent off to the financial folk who will make certain the agreement will not cost more than it should (dare I say, too much?).

For the sake of the Techs, let's hope that the University's financial gurus are quick at their task and the approval is forthcoming within the next few days.  Once the costing is approved, the agreement will be signed and -- amazingly -- only two unions will still be trying to settle negotiatiopns for collective agreements that expired in 2002!

Will the depature from the University of Dr. Lajeunesse make a difference.  One can always hope.  But the style of labour relations practiced at Concordia University is extremely resistant to change and appears to be more than willing to gobble up newcomers and turn them into [need I say more?!].

Until my next moment of inspiation . . . . All the news fit to print (or at least some of the news . . . .).
