Gillian Roper, VP Membership
The Vice President Membership is responsible for the coordination and administration of the union membership from the moment they join the union to the moment they leave. With the assistance of the office administrator, he/she is responsible for arranging welcome and orientation meetings for each new member, special membership meetings and social events (such as the annual Christmas party). In conjunction with the Vice President Communications, the VP Membership develops web- and paper-based materials intended to inform the union membership of their rights and benefits under the collective agreement and the policies and procedures of the University.
The VP Membership is also responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the union membership database, email distribution lists, bulletin boards, and all other services offered to the union membership. She is responsible for assisting in filling vacant union positions, including those on the union council and union committees, and those on university committees (such as on the electoral college or the EAP committee).
