Geoff Selig, President

Geoff Selig has been actively involved in the Concordia University Professional Employees Union since 1998.  He was the secretary from 1998 to 2000 and the Vice President Negotiations from 2000 to 2001. Since then, Geoff has been the CUPEU president.  Geoff was involved in the negotiations that led to the first CUPEU collective agreement (which ran from 1996 to 2002).  He was one of the negotiators of the present agreement (that came into effect in October 2005) with Charlie Brown, Eugenia Xenos, and Adriana Volpato.  Geoff is responsible for the CUPEU labour relations portfolio and, along with Laurel Leduc, is a member of the CUPEU Labour Relations and Grievance committee.  Geoff represents CUPEU on the Inter-Union Council (which is comprised of the presidents of all Concordia Unions).

In his non-union life, Geoff is the Systems Analyst in Concordia's Institutional Planning Office.  In that role, he takes on a variety of responsibilities including survey design and management, data analysis and interpretation, organizational consulting, and the design of web-based tools for the display of organizational facts and figures. Geoff has worked as a Senior Consultant in IITS and as a Researcher/Analyst in the Office of the Dean of Students. As a part-time faculty member, he has taught statistics and research methods courses in the Psychology, Decision Sciences, and Management departments as well as in the Eco-toxicology graduate diploma program.

Geoff carries with him an institutional memory that dates back 1980 when  he began working at the university as a research assistant and, arguably,  to the early 1970s when he first took his first courses at Sir George  Williams University in the department of Applied Human Sciences.
